![]() Bergen Shoe Haus by 1193
Bergen Parkway, Evergreen, Colorado, 80439;
303-674-6088 Bergen
Shoe Haus has definitely found a niche in Evergreen
as the sole shoe store in the community. The
spacious, homey atmosphere of the store is accented
with a love-seat, coffee table at the center,
mirrors, and friendly greeting. Diana Weber has
been managing this local retail shoe store for four
of the five years it has been operating. Along with
a few accessories like hats, belts, and purses,
Bergen Shoe Haus sells a wide variety of top
quality shoes. A few of the shoe companies featured
include Merrell, Ecco, Dansko, Ariat, Born, Josef
Seibel, H.S. Trask, Haflinger, and Naot. The
store's motto is "comfortable casual shoes with a
sense of style," and it provides just that.
The
location of Bergen Shoe Haus was recommended to the
owner because of the steady flow of traffic through
Bergen Park. Situated in the complex next to King
Soopers, Bergen Shoe Haus receives its fair share
of business. According to Ms. Weber, the location
"was a suggestion from Bleachers, and since we
didn't have any competition, we chose this spot and
here we are." Diana
Weber has an "extensive retail background," and had
previously worked retail in Evergreen just across
the street. She is an excellent source to speak for
the business because she is at the store nearly
every day of the week. She believes that besides
the constant advertising for Bergen Shoe Haus
in
the local newspapers and magazines, word of mouth
is the best way the store attracts new business.
Since Evergreen is a pretty tight-knit community,
"seeing a shoe on another customer provokes the
question, 'where did you get those shoes?'"
Although Bergen Shoe Haus only recently started to
use the Internet for promoting business, "we
decided that for 2002 our goal was to create more
Internet presence." Diana commented that the
business benefits the community because the store
acts as a "social place where people come to sit
and chat." Bergen
Shoe Haus doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon,
and Diana agrees. In the four years she has worked
there, "we have had an exquisite return rate of
customers." Just for the reader's information,
Diana has provided answers to her three most
frequently asked questions: She is able to special
order widths in shoes if they are not directly
available at her store. She does not carry Dock
Martin shoes, and they do carry children's
shoes.
