started at Remax nine years ago. She held interests
in the field of real estate at an early age and
started her career in Denver in 1979. After
developing her career, she settled down in
Evergreen and later moved to Golden, Colorado, at
Remax. She sells homes all over the mountains, from
Cherry Creek to Conifer. Her competition is with
other agents and other companies. Each person
competes against one another in a very
individualized fashion. "If you just sit back and
let it happen, it doesn't happen," she says. She
must be very persistent in order to stay
competitive. Paula sells two or three homes a month
which proves her success. Many
of the people who buy homes call back when they
want to resell their home. Paula says, "You know
when you buy your house for $100,000 and when you
come to sell it five years later, it may be worth
$300,000." The market for houses in the Denver
metro area mainly consists of developed commercial
and residential land. There is hardly any land in
the area between Cherry Creek and Conifer that is
undeveloped. Paula says, "This is good because a
lot of people move in and out approximately every
three to five years." Success in real estate relies
on how the creative you get and how hard you
work. Remax
utilizes many advertising strategies to promote
itself. Paula uses the Internet, newspapers,
magazines, real estate signs, and mail-outs to
promote her properties. Walk-in business is not
used very much due to advanced advertising
capabilities like the Internet. All of the homes
for sale can be viewed online. Instead of visiting
the office to see what is available, people may go
to the website for detailed information. The

convenient and helpful for clients. Paula
Cook is a very experienced and professional realtor
in the area. She knows what it takes to sell
properties and find buyers. She enjoys seeing
people find the home that best suits them. A
memorable experience during her job was finding a
home for a younger couple. Her kids both own homes
and this makes her want to help other young folks
as well. Her success was achieved by persuasiveness
and persistence in real estate. Paula's
