estate for either residential land or commercial
transactions. Metro Brokers is both a walk in and
call in business depending on the customer's
desires. The company advertises in the Canyon
Courier, in the Denver newspapers, and other real
estate publications. This
business is a group of ethical realtors that
provides a much needed service to the public. They
help the community by providing tours of homes in
the area. Metro Brokers/Better Homes of Colorado
has a nice atmosphere and is a good location
because it is right off of highway 74. The amount
of customers varies from month to month, and the
market differs in various locations. Current prices
of real estate in the area, for the most part,
remain steady. Metro Brokers utilizes the Internet,
and also the Voyager system which is a program that
helps customers view properties and specific
houses. It is updated daily and explains details
and directions to the home. Mrs.
Cruz discussed how September 11th changed the real
estate market because it is now safer to invest in
property rather than stock. A
typical day for Rosie Cruz includes making
telephone calls, looking up information from the
computer, informing her clients/customers about new
real estate listings, showing them properties, and
helping people list their properties. She
emphasized the importance of her phone
conversations by stating, "I want my clients to
feel a sense of accomplishment after they get off
the phone with me." She expressed that her job
involves plenty of paperwork and
footwork. Mrs.
Cruz is a Colorado native who has lived in
Evergreen for eleven years. She attended West High
School and she is cultural diversity oriented. She
knows the Denver metro area as well as the
Evergreen area. She was interested in real estate
while growing up because her parents were involved
in buying properties. She believes buying a home is
one of the best investments a person can make
because it's safe and usually increases in value.
Mrs. Cruz loves the real estate business and enjoys
helping people buy their dream home. She
reasons that her educational background is
important because "the more you can do, the more
you can offer your clients." She earned a degree in
business administration specializing in real estate
and is also a qualified notary. Mrs. Cruz also has
an accounting clerk degree and an associate degree
of applied science secretarial. She worked for the
bankruptcy court system for about seven years and
is currently a part of the Evergreen/Conifer
Association of Realtors or ECAR. As she listed the
numerous classes she has taken, she stated, "I went
through a lot of training; as you can see, I like
to keep busy." She
feels that a positive aspect of her job is that she
is providing an excellent service. There are also
negative aspects of the job, such as some clients
don't qualify for the loan they need. Mrs. Cruz at
Metro Brokers makes sure that clients are pre
qualified to eliminate disappointment for both
buyers and sellers. She loves her job because she
is interested in meeting new people and she takes
satisfaction in a job well done. Claire
